Steve Myrtue----  My Philosophy of Education

Since my early years of education I have enjoyed and had passion for
learning; first as a active student and later as a member of the teaching profession.   Education is a very important part of my life and always will be.

All successful adults can trace back to their years in school and how well they were able to gain knowledge and experiences in reaching many goals.  We are all life-long learners and should seek in our lives a continuing desire to grow in personal developments.   Humans must be problem solvers and productive members of society.   We need to have positive interactions with others and gain so much in our early lives in educational settings.   I believe that the education a young student can gain will help build the a strong base of character for a good life.

The role all teachers can play with each student is critical and a joy for a teacher to succeed in doing.  What is important for all teachers is to take your profession serious and have pride in being one.  I find my life fulfilling mainly because I have the privilege to guide our youth in the most important time of their young lives.   I made the decision to become a teacher and a coach due to my love of the school environment and how a successful school can unite a core of members of both a  school and the community.

My personal style of teaching is quite common and simplistic.  Some educators might think that a successful teacher must have unique and polished teaching skills.  I have what I believe all successful teachers possess, and that is a sincere love for youth and being dedicated in motivating them to believe in their self worth and potentials!   Every child is special and should try to reach their goals and high expectations.  I understand that each student will need certain methods or styles of teaching to reach them, and that journey may not always be smooth or easy to accomplish.

What I am more aware of now as a teacher of over 20 plus year, I have more passion for teaching than I have ever had!  My desire to become a more successful educator and teacher of many variety of students is driven by my respect for this profession.   My true goal in life is to keep improving and be the very best teacher and coach for as long as I am able to.   I appreciate all the many years of joy in teaching and proud of how my students have reached or excelled in many endeavors of life.
Steve Myrtue's Philosophy of Teaching:

Two people have greatly affected my philosophy of teaching and living my life as an educator.   My love for guiding young people throughout my life has been mentored by legendary John Wooden and Merlin Olsen.

I must give credit to Merlin Olsen's Mission Statement:

" The focus of my life begins at home with family, loved ones and friends.  I want to use my resources to create a secure environment that fosters love, learning, laughter and mutual success.

I will protect and value integrity.
I will admit and quickly correct my mistakes.
i will be a self-starter.
I will be a caring person.
I will be a good listener with an open mind.
I will continue to grow and learn.
I will facilitate and celebrate the success of others."
