WHO IS THIS FAMOUS PILOT ? "ASK GRANDPA"

                   SEPTEMBER 9-12 week

STUDY OF NASA and the exploration of Space (early years)

****read chapter one and two:  pages 30-33 and page 38, and pages 48-52

MONDAY-----read about moon's features, maria, craters and rocks.  Quiz Tuesday over
                            words or key terms listed on page 34 (should be done in your notebook assignment)

****first official **BELL RINGER = working in notebook on kuno research about space program (12 items)
1.  Apollo missions  2. famous astronauts   3.  Science - fiction movies-------DUE - THURSDAY !!!

I will use my website and computer to show you examples of history of Apollo and NASA and review week s plans.

TUESDAY ------ **quiz over key terms page 34 (from homework)
    1. Use of teacher website to explore and learn about NASA and start of space program
    2.  Focus on key astronauts and Mercury 7, will also show you information about jet test pilots

WEDNESDAY------use of teacher website; show history of space race, jet pilots of l950 s, ****read pages 48-52, also introduction to Mercury 7 men (first USA MEN in Space) ----**John Glenn and others.    

****all notebooks and workbooks need to be done by Thursday !!!)

THURSDAY------start the "Project assignment" --due Friday, Sept. 20th
*****research on one astronaut, one space mission, and one "space movie".
pass out the directions for this assignment, show with my website my examples, then allow class time to start project ( I will help anyone that needs assistance)

collect all notebooks and workbooks for all past assignments *****DUE LAST FRIDAY !

DUE --TODAY = THE "KUNO"  assignment (12 items about Apollo, astronauts and Science -fiction movies  ---done in your NOTE-BOOK
  ***workbook pages 18,19,20,21 ( originally due last Friday)
*****notebook (definitions of words page 34 of text)----all will be collected !
FRIDAY-----USE OF WEBSITE-------  show information about docking, space walks, trip to the Moon, and the Gemini and early Apollo missions

***hand back quiz over key terms / words about chapter one and the Moon


**** will explain and summarize SPACE PR0JECT ASSIGNEMENT about pilots and missions:

September----16, 17, 18, 19, 20 schedule:

1. Monday = turn in vocab words quiz and corrected --words missed on quiz.

***review last weeks lessons/ revisited (encourage students to watch all videos)A

Hand out directions for project about space research, review how to do Notebooks

**If time will summarize the story about Apollo One and its tragedy.


2.  Tuesday = story about Dr Braun and start of NASA, history of test pilots, use of videos and the movie "The Right Stuff"

3.  Wednesday = work on project, teacher help and "check offs".  Due in two weeks.

***pass out a study guide about Chapter two and "notes" about Friday Quiz

4.  Thursday = complete review of book pages 48-52 of NASA and its early history.


5. Friday = chapter two quiz review (NASA), sign ups for Space project  ***quiz on MONDAY
