Biomes and Climate:

Go to the following location about biomes of the World:
http://www.kidsdiscover.com/spotlight/biomes.
***Also watch the video above called Biomes.

Introduction to Climate:
**definition of a "microclimate" = a small place with its unique own climate. Also known as "its weather patterns".
1. What is the weather like today? Is today's weather typical of the weather we usually have this time of year?
2. Does weather change from one day to the next? Can one day be rainy and chilly, and the next day rather warm and dry?
A. Definition of climate = the average or most common forms of weather patterns ( winds, temperature, precipitation, and cloud cover.
B. ***the main factors that affect temperature are:
1. latitude, altitude, and distance from large bodies of water
2. World temperature zones (based on latitude)
tropicals= those near the Equator,"just north/ south of equator.
polar = those zones at the top / bottom of Earth's pole regions
temperate = all zones inbetween the polar and tropic zones
Below is a map of USA, use this map to begin -(part one) of a climate assignment with use of your laptop

PART-- TWO
Study assignment (climates and biomes)
1. Find 1-2 pictures of the 4 climates shown in the USA map.
and make a short power-point assignment.
**see examples below, use your textbook p. for help
2. label below each picture and where it is located

Biomes of the World
use map above for a biome project:
1. As done with part one of (climate map assignment) use the map above and below to help you locate images of the different biomes of the World.
**need at least one pic of a biome
2. Goal = to have 1-2 pics and label them for each biome listed on the maps I ve given for you to look at. (World has 10-11)
***directions in project icon section***

Below are USA National Parks biomes :
This is one of the most beautiful places in the World and a national park in the USA. It is on the windward side of the Sierra-Nevada Mt. Ranges (its called: Sequoria Nat. Park)
On the leeward side of the Sierra-Nevada Mts = Death Valley
"A more unique and full list of special places to see in the U.S.A."
All are part of the spectrum of areas of USA that are affected by our climate regions.
